Entering Maug Lagoon from the South
Maug, one of the three islands within the Islands Unit of the Mariana Trench Marine National Monument, is the second northernmost island in the Marianas archipelago. The three islets of Maug form a ring around a mile wide lagoon. The lagoon is actually the crater of an active sunken volcano.
